Three books bring together some inspiring ideas to bear on business process management. The starting point for me has been the book by Prahalad and Krishnan, titled The New Age of Innovation. They put forth a compelling argument on why business processes are drivers of innovation. Govindarajan and Trimble in their new book, The Other Side of Innovation, illustrates how difficult it can be to implement innovations, whatever be the types. A companion book to this is Business Model Generation by Osterwalder and Pigneur in which they showcase several business models. All of these models rely on a common framework of nine columns.
